Claremont, Calif. -- The baseball team used a five-run fifth inning to record their second-straight win with a 15-9 victory over Claremont-Mudd-Scripps. The Bombers are now .500 for the year with a 3-3 record, while Claremont-Mudd-Scripps drops to 9-10.
Senior outfielder Jeremy Peters (Thomas R. Proctor/Utica) improved his batting-average to .560 by going 4-for-4 and extended his hitting streak to six games. Peters started the Bombers five-run fifth when he drove in sophomore designated hitter Drew Ash (Morris Knolls/Denville, N.J.) with a sacrifice fly. Senior outfielder Eric Maya (Rome Free Academy/Rome) scored on the next at bat when sophomore second baseman Kurt Bednarcyk (Rochester/Fairport) singled. A double by junior catcher Rob Raux (Ilion/Frankfort) drove in three runs and gave the Bombers a 13-3 lead after five.
Raux and Ferguson each recorded a team-high three RBIs. Raux went 1-for-3, while Ferguson went 3-for-6. Ferguson singled in the first to score Bednarcyk and doubled in the ninth to score sophomore catcher Craig Kropa (Canastota/Canastota) and Peters.
Sophomore infielder Dylan Perez (Conval Regional [Conn.]/Peterborough, N.H.) and Ash each drove in a season-high two runs. Perez went 1-for-4 with a singe and Ash was 3-for-4 with two singles and a double.
Junior Nick Sottung (Pulaski/Pulaski) recorded his second win by pitching seven innings giving up three earned runs and striking out a season-high five batters.
